Writers’ Workshop

We were excited to begin Writers’ Workshop this week! The Writers’ Workshop portion of our day includes instruction, independent time to write, and a time for sharing.  Throughout the week, students also conference with me and discuss personal goals.  On Friday, we took our journals outside to write. imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Often at the end of writing workshop, students share a few “glows” (things students are proud of) and “grows” (things that they want to improve) about how their writing went that day.

Ze, Kiarrah, Payne, Garrett, Willow, and Tayvien were proud of the amount of writing they were able to do at different points this week.  Brooklinn, Lee, and Jordan were excited that they continued to write more than they did the day before. Gwyn and Aymiah were proud of the number of ideas they had this week. Olive and Jacob said they liked how many great details they were able to add to their story.  Everyone shared lots of goals for next week. Some of these included writing longer stories and adding  more details to their writing to make their story come to life.  I love how reflective these third graders have been this week! 🙂
