Energy is everywhere! It is the ability to do work or to cause change. Third graders explored what sound energy actually is. How can sound energy cause change? What are some characteristics of sound energy?
Brooklyn discovered that by hitting the pan above the rice, the rice moved without touching it. Sound energy alone made the rice vibrate.
Rubber bands can create different pitches of sound depending on how much the rubber band is stretched.
Students discovered that the longer the ruler hung over the edge, the lower the pitch was as it vibrated.
