Transdisciplinary Theme: How We Express Ourselves
I’m so proud of these kids for being risk takers in this unit so far! We have been exploring different kinds of poetry, analyzing structure, and learning new tools to help us improve and publish our poetry. They have been risk takers because writing poetry can be difficult and requires thinking outside of the box.
As we immersed ourselves in poetry, we simultaneously have been thinking about what makes a good poem. If we were to create a rubric for what makes a good poem, what would it say? Over time, we wrote descriptions of 3 levels of poems (3 being the best). We continue to add to this rubric as we learn more about poetry, and use it as a guide to assess our own poems.
Here is a glimpse of some of their work. We are excited to create poetry portfolios of their work by the end of this unit!
